Phenom II X4 940 on AM2 board = yessss

I originally built this computer with the Asus M2n32 Sli Deluxe board and the AMD FX-62 chip.

It has always been a source of pride to have that FX-62, and I was never interested in upgrading (especially due to the $900 price tag for JUST that CPU when I originally bought it some years ago).

But it's been clear that I needed a bump in processor cores/speed lately.  Have been having trouble keeping up with large 1080p bluray files (ringing in at sometimes 12 to 20GB a peice); getting bogged down and sync out issues every now and then.

I started the upgrade looking for a full i7 955 setup.. nevermind, that was going to ring in at over $1900 for all the pieces I would need in the end.

Time to clean up, Time to RAID, Time to rock.

I've been collecting little hard drives over the years and filling them up faster than is responsible.  The irresponsible-ness was shown in how crappy the inside of my case looking as of late, so I finally broke down and grabbed a couple of new 2tb drives to consolidate the movie collections that have been building up on a handful of 250gb and 500gb drives.  Storage is so inexpensive anymore, might as well buy big!

Windows 7 XP Mode (integrated) SUCKS

One of the shouted and touted points of Win7 Pro was the glorious integrated XP Mode.  Excellent for me because I (still) have to test every* site I make in Internet Explorer 6.

SIDEBAR: PS Did you get that email from Google Apps that spoke of their intended phase out of IE6 support this year?!?1eleven! Wheee!

The Suit and the Hipster

A recent (and fun to read) thread of comments on a pic on my fb account has got me thinking about all that was said there.
